In March 2014 GS Energy Solutions embarked on a journey of giving back, launching a charity initiative that would grow to touch the lives of countless children and families across Manila. Now, as we mark the 10th anniversary of the GS Givesback program, it’s a moment to reflect on the joy, the challenges, and the profound impact of a decade dedicated to service.
The Beginning of a Movement
Our inaugural event set the tone for what was to come. On March 22, 2014, in St. Joseph Village, San Pedro Laguna, the GS Givesback team found its heart. The sight of children introducing themselves, singing, and dancing with joy, all while receiving slippers and a warm meal was a vivid reminder of the difference compassion can make.
Expanding Our Reach
The program quickly expanded, hosting its first charity event in Tanay Rizal September 2014, and by December, launching a feeding program in Balasing Barangay, Bulacan. These early efforts laid the groundwork for a commitment that would only deepen with time. Since then, and up until the pandemic, the program organized weekly events that provided children with a warm meal and distribution of necessary equipment to promote learning and development. From the start of the pandemic in 2020 up until today, the program shifted to providing monthly supplies to families in distressed areas. Here, food supplies have been distributed to meet the needs of the families.
Celebrations and Support During Hard Times
A hallmark of GS Givesback has been its Christmas parties and gifts, bringing smiles and warmth to children in San Pedro Laguna and Bulacan. Even as the world faced the challenges of the pandemic, GS Givesback adapted, providing families with essential supplies, hygiene kits, and educational tools to ensure children’s learning continued uninterrupted.
A Milestone Return to Mount Daraitan
In February 2024, GS Givesback returned to Mount Daraitan, Sitio Paydas, this time with enhanced support from the 5th Field Artillery Army. This visit, highlighted by the presence of CEO Stian Krag, brought essential goods, educational supplies, and hope to the Dumagat community, showcasing the program’s ongoing commitment to reaching those in need, no matter the distance.
A Decade of Giving Back
As we celebrate this 10-year milestone, we’re reminded that the journey of GS Givesback is more than a series of events—it’s a testament to the power of community, partnership, and perseverance. Each meal served, each child educated, and each family supported represents a step toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
